I made a trip to Dallas and used my new nano iPod with a portable speaker so I could listen to audio books on the trip up and back. The car is 10 years old, before mp3 inputs were standard in most cars, so I have to resort to other means. Bill had given me the nano and speaker for Christmas, and I really enjoy the easy portability of it. I don't like the earbuds, makes my ears hurt.
John and Taylor play together very well. John shares his legos with Taylor, he builds things and she looks for the lego people and categorizes them as a mean man or a good man. She does that with Disney videos too, there is a mean queen or witch and good princesses.
Taylor is very good at explaining things to Daddy, and he listens patiently.
Despite the cold temps, we did get outside for a bit. After a few minutes of chase, we are all warmed up to play other things. Taylor does this thing on the swing where she lays on the sling seat and uses her feet to push up high. Then she will swing a few times before pushing off with her feet again. Here you can see Taylor swinging and John runs in to join her on his swing. John likes to swing and flip over it to the ground.
This must be a common technique for kids today. I didn't do it as a kid because we only had those hard board seats on swings. But here is a video of Claire and Jake doing the exact same thing, laying on the swing sling seat and using their feet to push off the ground.
John brought 3 monster trucks outside, one for him, one for me and one for Taylor. He seems to include her so naturally. Then he drug out most of the items from the outdoor toybox to make a monster truck track.
Back in Conroe the following weekend, the mornings have been very foggy. This picture was taken about 9:30 a.m. and I figured visibility wasn't more than 100 ft or so. If you didn't know where you were going, it would have been easy to miss a turn or a light.
But once the fog starts to burn off, the afternoons and evenings have been gorgeous. Bill and I made an afternoon trip up to Huntsville for some touch and goes.
A few nights later we made a sunset flight up around Lake Conroe. The moon was nearly full, but I was not able to get a good picture of the reflection on the lake. We saw it, but just couldn't get that picture. But here you can see the Del Lago tower in the center of the picture and the lights of lake communities.
Pretty sky and lingering sunset.
Cockpit instruments all lit up.
Bill also celebrated a birthday this month and we enjoyed dinner and dessert at Perry's.
I also helped hostess a bridal shower for the future daughter-in-law of an old friend.
Part of the hostess gift were 2 Tervis insulated tumblers, customized with pictures of the couple from their college days. A unique type of gift.
And January is still not over yet, I still have a babysitting weekend with the twins to look forward to.
